GETTING STARTED – PART 2/6

DEFINING REGIONS

The first thing to do in the Creative Vitality Suite is to define your region of analysis. You define your region by clicking the edit link in the top right corner.

You will learn:

  • How to create a region
  • Select your data year
  • Difference between aggregating and comparing regions

The regions that are available depends on your licensing permissions. CVSuite offers regions available at the state, metropolitan, county and ZIP Code level. In this section, you may:

  1. Create a region group;
  2. Select an existing region group;
  3. Edit an existing region group;
  4. Change your data year;

Region groups contain 1 or more geographic areas. They are used to save your region selections so they are available when you log back in or for future analysis. When combining multiple areas into a region group the CVSuite will aggregate the regions together not compare the regions to each other. Comparing regions side by side is currently not supported within CVSuite. Users can still do comparisons by pulling data for one region than creating a new comparison region and pulling that data.

STEP 1 – CREATE A REGION GROUP

Click the new region dropdown and select the region level you would like to create. On the map, you select a region. You can also toggle the map to search regions by state instead.

When you select a region, it will display in the selected region box. If you select more than one region, you are creating an aggregated region, not a comparison.

Finally, click “edit name” to enter a name for your region group to distinguish this region from other previously saved groups.

STEP 2 – SELECT A DATA YEAR

Before leaving the region section be sure to choose the data year, you would like to see data for. The site will automatically save your selections. Click on the Dashboard or any other page to begin your analysis.
